A Jazzy Spring

Do you love jazz music? Maybe you're just curious to learn more about the eclectic musical genre. If so, you'll want to make sure to check out a few upcoming concerts in SFJAZZ's spring and summer series.

SFJAZZ is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to jazz and jazz education. Best known for producing the SFJAZZ festival each fall, with over 30 annual concerts, the organization also produces a series of jazz concerts in the spring and summer.

Artists gracing the stages of San Francisco this spring include the James Moody Quartet, Crosspulse Percussion Ensemble, Dianne Reeves, Patricia Barber and numerous other renowned vocalists and instrumentalists.

Jazz and Silent Film Festival
Highlighting the spring series this year is the Jazz and Silent Film Festival. The greatest silent films of all time will come alive with a 21st-century beat at the Castro Theatre. For $5-$10 a ticket, you and your family can enjoy a classic silent film like Sherlock Jr. accompanied live by Bay Area legends the Club Foot Orchestra.

Gala Celebration
If an elegant gala celebrating jazz greats is more your speed, join SFJAZZ on May 16, 2008 to honor nine-time Grammy winner Wayne Shorter. The evening will feature performances by the SFJAZZ Collective, members of the SFJAZZ All-Star High School ensemble, and special musical guests.
