Kick off winter at San Francisco's Embarcadero Center this November. The annual festivities will once again delight city dwellers and visitors. Enjoy a building lighting ceremony, winter carnival, and work on your triple axles at the opening of the downtown ice rink.
It's the "Official Kick Off to the Holiday Season," as declared by Mayoral Proclamation in 2002. Starting with the famous Building Lighting Ceremony on November 21, the event is a treat for all ages.
Parents, take note – before the light show begins, bring your kids to the Winter Carnival, featuring games, interactive arts and crafts-making booths, balloon twisters, musical performances and more. The carnival revs ups at 4pm.
That gives you an hour-and-a-half to enjoy the carnival before the lighting ceremony begins at 5:30pm. If you have High School Musical fans in your family, you'll want to check out the sneak preview of Disney's High School Musical: The Ice Tour at the evening's ceremony.
In addition to skating and dancing, the event will include performance by local musicians and a spectacular pyrotechnic show finale.
The ceremony wouldn't be complete without the initial lighting of Embarcadero Center's dramatic office tower. The tower will illuminate San Francisco's skyline with 17,000 lights throughout the holiday season. Also open all holiday season is the Holiday Ice Rink at Embarcadero Center, which will be open for public skating from Nov 12 to Jan 4.
For the Holiday Season "Kick Off," Embarcadero Center retailers will offer special discounts, gift ideas, and four hours of free parking from 4:00 PM. For more information,
